Daft Punk
Skills: Modeling, Texturing, Lighting
The mysteriousness of the Daft Punk helmets has always piqued my curiosity. Something about their shapes just hits a perfect balance of robot vs. human, and the shaded visors with dynamic blinking lights is a perfect canvas to get creative with. So when Greyscalegorilla released rough models of the helmets for free, I decided to grab a copy and have some fun with them. The originals were a bit on the cartoony side, so I tightened up the geo to feel more realistic and added a bunch of detail. I modeled out a full interior LED array for each of them and decided to go with a roughed up metal look for the shading with Octane in 3ds Max.
